Perseverance prevails. (proverb) [lit. Three years on a stone]
Keiko (K) is working for a company. She came back home late this evening.
Keiko:
I’m home!
Mother:
Welcome back! You came back later than usual.
Keiko:
I was made to work overtime. I want to quit such a company.
Mother:
There is overtime work at any company.
Keiko:
But today, after work, I had a plan to eat dinner with friends from my college days.
Mother:
You can do that kind of thing any day, can’t you?
Keiko:
But... Besides that, every day I’m forced to make tea for everyone, make copies of documents, etc. I’m not allowed to do the kind of work I want at all.
Mother:
What is the kind of work you want to do?
Keiko:
For example, things like planning projects, making presentations, and so forth ...
Mother:
It’s been only half a year since you joined the company. There is no company which lets newcomers like you do such an important work.
Keiko:
But...
Mother:
They say "Three years on the stone," right? If they do not let you do the work you want to do after working hard for three years, then, you should consider whether or not you should quit.
